You’ve probably heard the expression “Don’t Confuse Your Google Search With My Law Degree” (or Ph.D or doctorate) and the like.  No doubt, the Internet is a useful vehicle for clients or potential clients to attempt to educate themselves, whether they are contemplating taking legal action or are in the midst of full-fledged litigation.  The danger arises when communication breaks down between lawyers and clients, and clients are left to search the Internet to try to explain the strategic moves that their lawyers are making.  It is incumbent on us as trial lawyers to make sure that our clients understand our overall litigation strategy and that they are advised regarding each step along the way and how it fits within that strategy, often times providing cost estimates.  Experience teaches us that better informed clients are often more satisfied clients.
